Systems Xcellence Signs Three New ASP Accounts with Combined Contract Values in Excess of US $2,000,000 Over Three Years

MILTON, Ontario (May 22, 2001) -- Systems Xcellence Inc., (TSE: SXC) announced today that it has signed with three new clients to provide claims processing services under its RxCLAIM® Application Solutions Provider (ASP) offering. Each of the agreements is for a three-year term and the Company reported that the value of the contracts to be in excess of US $2,000,000.

Headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, University Health Alliance is a mutual benefit society that provides fully insured and self-funded health plans to employers, unions and associations throughout Hawaii. After a thorough selection process, University Health Alliance chose Systems Xcellence as its ideal claims processing partner after reviewing key selection criteria including system functionality, industry reputation, and service commitment. University Health Alliance also recognized that Systems Xcellence proved itself to be a perfect partner - one with the reputation and proven track record of developing long-term strategic partnerships. Systems Xcellence's state-of-the-art claims processing (RxCLAIM®), and data warehousing (RxTRACKT) systems, will provide University Health Alliance the technology and service partner needed to deliver a competitive advantage to the marketplace. The account was implemented with a February 1, 2001 effective date.

Based in Trenton, New Jersey, Horizon/Mercy manages access to healthcare services for the publicly-insured in New Jersey who enroll in Horizon Healthcare of NJ, Inc.'s managed Medicaid and New Jersey Family Care programs, and has been serving the publicly-insured in New Jersey since 1994. During this time, membership administered by Horizon/Mercy has grown to more than 210,000 members. Horizon/Mercy is a partnership of Horizon Healthcare of NJ, Inc., a subsidiary of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (HBCBSNJ) and Mercy Health Plan, a subsidiary of Mercy Health System in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The combination of industry leading applications and complete system flexibility led Horizon/Mercy to choose Systems Xcellence over its competitors. Important to Horizon/Mercy is a single-source solution that supports their business objectives while maintaining control. To meet those objectives, Horizon/Mercy needed to take complete control over developing and implementing unique programs and benefit designs - to instantaneously meet the demands of the marketplace. Following an extensive review, Horizon/Mercy determined Systems Xcellence's claims processing (RxCLAIM®), data warehousing (RxTRACKT) and rebate management (RxMAXT) systems would provide them with the control and support they have envisioned. Horizon/Mercy began using the systems on May 1, 2001.

The third client is a national Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) with a concentration of clients in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Systems Xcellence was selected to provide an integrated pharmacy benefit management system. The comprehensive solution will include RxCLAIM® and RxTRACKT and is to be installed for an August 2001 effective date.
