Systems Xcellence Announces license sales and aSP renewals valued at US$1.0 million

- Company's New Pharmacy Management System Garners Positive Market Response -

MILTON, ON, January 23, 2002 -- Systems Xcellence Inc. (TSE: SXC), a leading provider of healthcare information technology solutions throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain, today announced several new contract awards and renewals totalling US$1.0 million. 

The contracts consist of six new licensed software contracts totalling US$600,000, and two contract renewals of existing Application Service Provider (ASP) contracts totalling US$400,000.

The licensed software contracts pertain to the Company's RxEXPRESS product line and include two contracts for the Company's recently released RxEXPRESS^® for Windows^® pharmacy management product. These contracts generally consist of an initial license plus related maintenance and consulting fees. The US$400,000 ASP contracts will be recognized over a two-year period and relate to the Company's RxCLAIM^® and RxTRACK^TM product lines.  

RxEXPRESS for Windows is a next-generation, fully integrated, Windows 2000/XP compatible system, targeting independent as well as large pharmacy chains. RxEXPRESS for Windows facilitates the ability of pharmacies to manage various workflow tasks, from inventory management, to drug dispensing, billing and payment, claims management and corporate headquarters interfacing. 

The RxCLAIM product suite is designed to enable payers of pharmacy services, such as health care plans, adjudicate third-party prescription claims on-line at the point-of-service. In conjunction with RxCLAIM, RxTRACK provides a highly versatile reporting and business intelligence mechanism for clients. Both RxCLAIM and RxTRACK are available in licensed software or ASP product offerings.
