SYSTEMS XCELLENCE ANNOUNCES RXPORTAL(TM) CONTRACTS WITH FIVE EXISTING CUSTOMERS

MILTON, Ontario August 3, 2004, Systems Xcellence Inc., ("SXC") (TSX: SXC) a leading provider of healthcare information technology solutions throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain, today announced the sale of its RxPORTAL(TM) web interface, to three of its pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and two of its managed care (MCO) customers. The five agreements have a collective value of approximately $700,000, which will be earned over a three- year period.

Available as a hosted service, RxPORTAL allows healthcare organizations to extend the services they provide to their plan members by establishing a web presence for plan members to view program details and maximize utility of their prescription benefits. RxPORTAL enables plan members to review complete information of their group and prescription benefit plan; search a drug database for detailed pharmaceutical information; identify which drugs are covered under their plans; determine what their co-payment will be for a particular prescription; and, locate the nearest pharmacy that is part of the member's network. An enhancement to RxPORTAL, expected in the fourth quarter of 2004, will allow members to access their medication history.
